Look Ahead app for iPhone and iPad

You can use Look Ahead anywhere in the world to quickly locate places of interest. Look Ahead has over 3.1 million places resident in its database.

Look Ahead Operating Modes

1. Area - Lists places relative to your current location without regard to heading. Listing range is approximately 90 miles (145 km).

2. Route - If you are moving with a speed greater than 15 MPH (24 KPH) the app can automatically switch to the Route mode. In Route mode place selection is based on a 45 degree section directly in front of you. The Route mode can be overridden if you want to keep the app in the Area mode. Auto mode is the default mode.

Look Ahead Features

1. Place type filtering enables you to display only place categories and names that interest you.

2. Each place has a details page with maps, directions, street view (if available), Wikivoyage article text for certain POI places, and additional map based place information for food, fuel, etc.

3. Continuous display of heading, speed, and altitude.

4. Look ahead has over 3.1 million places resident in its database.

5. Many features of the app work offline. For instance, speed, heading, and altitude use GPS information. Place geo code information is resident in the app so it can quickly display places as well as position them on offline cached maps. Street view and article text require an on line connection.

6. Open Street Maps and Wikivoyage place information is from the early December, 2018 database releases.
